The drizzling rain didn’t deter cheerful families from lining up for hot dogs and soft drinks before streaming into the West Central Events Centre for a fun filled evening.
Hosted by West Central Abilities, Canada Family Fun Night was not only a great way to celebrate the nation’s upcoming 150th birthday, but to also kick off the fundraisers for West Central Abilities.
Starting at 4:00 p.m., families were able to enjoy bouncy castles, skill challenging games, bingo, photo booths, and personal conversations with team members from the Kindersley Klippers team. While the children played games, the adults were able to participant in a silent auction for items donated by various individuals and businesses.
“It’s great to see how folks are excited for this event,” commented Kim Edmunds, Executive Director of West Central Abilities. “Seeing the community work together to make an event like this take off is a great feeling.”
In order to made such a diverse event run smoothly, several volunteers from the community stepped forward, including representatives from Kindersley Oil Wives, Kindersley Klippers, Kindersley Composite High School and the Kindersley Christian Fellowship Church.
Proceeds from both the silent auction and the hot dog meal will go directly to West Central Abilities; supporting their current programs and the upcoming new centre. Another new fundraiser includes the “Brick by Brick Campaign”; donators may purchase a brick and have their name engraved on it. Later, when the new centre is built, these bricks will form a part of an interior wall.
“We are excited with the direction we are headed,” said Edmunds, “and the community involvement makes it all that more special.”
