Did you know that Estevan, Saskatchewan, is the sunniest place in Canada?

This fact and many others tickled the brains of Canada’s 150th concert-goers last Sunday. After the RCMP Musical Ride, musicians in the Kindersley area continued with the theme. Canada’s 150th Concert presented and sponsored by the West Central SK Registered Music Teacher’s Association, was performed by local students, teachers, and established musicians.

From Stompin’ Tom, a quartet on two pianos, the traditional “Land of the Silver Birch” to a rousing “Beats of Canada” performance, Canada’s wide diversity was celebrated by young and old alike.

In keeping with the national theme, every piece featured all Canadian music, past and present. In between musical performances, the attendees were quizzed on random facts of Canada.

“This was created for everyone to enjoy,” explained Braybrook. “It’s to be fun, educational and, of course, entertaining.”

Judging from the hearty cheers and clapping, Kindersley’s Canada 150th concert did just that.
