After matching their skill with the Prince Albert Outlaws on June 3, the Kindersley Crude Hitters ready themselves for their next home game on June 17.

During the ebb and flow of any sport, teams take turns on the high and low end of the scoreboard. The Crude Hitters hit the top during their first matchup of the season, while the second game found them on the other end with a final call of 189-136 in the Outlaws favour.

“They were a very tough team,” noted Britenie Georget, team member and player in the weekend’s matchup. “The Outlaws scored a lot of points in the first period of the game, and even though we actually gained a higher score in the second, their overall points took the game.”

Georget noted that while games are fun to win, a team can still have fun even though they lost.  “Games are not played personally,” she noted; “we play hard and fast, but we are ultimately there to have fun, not necessarily to win games.” This refreshing outlook no doubt contributes to the high popularity of the sport with both players and onlookers.

The Crude Hitters are not the only ones hitting the floor this week, as the Junior Level 1/2 will have a chance to show Kindersley their skills in a “black and white” scrimmage in the Kindersley Curling Rink at 5:00 p.m. The Crude Hitters will follow with a matchup with the Weyburn Straight Jackets at 7:30 p.m.
