It’s the only one of its kind left in Western Canada, granddaughter of builder says
Sod houses once dotted the Prairies, but now only one remains standing near Kindersley, Sask.
It belongs to Lenore McTaggart’s family. Her grandfather, James Addison, was a carpenter from Liverpool, England, who had no homesteading experience when he built the house 106 years ago.
Later this month, her family’s longtime stewardship of the home will be recognized with a heritage award from the lieutenant governor.
