Environment Canada has issued a special weather alert for parts of Western Saskatchewan, including the Kindersley and Rosetown areas. The weather statement mentions that overnight and this morning, a narrow band of moderate to heavy snow traveled on a line from Elrose to Rosetown and Biggar, then moving northwest through the Battlefords. According to some snowfall estimates on social media, around 5 to 15 cm fell in some areas.
Temperatures warmed a few degrees this afternoon, melting much of the snow except where the heaviest amounts fell. However as the afternoon progressed this has mostly changed to showers. But as temperatures drop again tonight, Environment Canada states there is a possibility of some more localized snowfall, possibly as much as 5 cm.
According to Environment Canada’s website, the system is forecast to begin to weaken later on Friday, the system will be moving slowly to the East.
