While the prairie skies turn a deeper hue and the weather surges with energy, the kids of the Kindersley area have a new outlet for their own vim and vigor. Kicking off May 8, SK Camps seeks to be a positive place for children ages 3-12 to experience their summer.

“We noticed the lack of summer camps in Kindersley,” noted Shay Bauml, SK Camps cofounder. “So we figured this was a great opportunity for kids to participate in fun activities and not have to just hang out at home.”

The brainchild of Shay Bauml and Dakota Jackson, SK Camps is a new company founded out of their desire to see children take more opportunities to learn and grow during the spring and summer months.

During May and June, SK Camps will operate at the Elizabeth and Westberry schools, so the children need only troop from their classrooms and down a hall or two in order to reach the after-school program. Later, in July and August, SK Camps will switch locations to the St. Joseph Catholic Church for their summer camp.

Parents and guardians can pre-register their children in the camp, or the youngsters can drop in, provided they have a signed registration form and applicable fees paid. A drop in session is worth $5.00, while the pre-registration comes with the opportunity to purchase a $40 punch card for ten sessions—automatically giving the purchaser a $10 saving. Schedules for the age groups are available on the SK Camps website listed below.

For now, the camp will be run exclusively by Bauml and Jackson, who each have past experience in running summer camps. In fact, both young women are currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Education. First cousins, then roommates attending the same university, Bauml and Jackson designed SK Camps to be a learning experience for kids and instructors alike.
