Cult Leader Romana Didulo Among 16 Arrested in Richmound
Yesterday, Saskatchewan RCMP arrested 16 adults, including self-proclaimed cult leader Romana Didulo, in the village of Richmound following a firearms investigation. Richmound, is a village of about 118 people located 365 kilometres west of Regina, and has been home to the group for the past two years.
At a news conference in Regina that afternoon, Insp. Ashley St. Germaine said RCMP executed a search warrant around 4:30 a.m. CST at a privately owned, decommissioned school where Didulo and her followers had been living.
St. Germaine said RCMP launched the investigation after receiving a report on Aug. 25 that one of the building’s occupants had a firearm. That led to the investigation that culminated in the raid.
According to St. Germaine, more than 30 police vehicles, including two tactical units and officers from multiple jurisdictions, were deployed to the scene.
St. Germaine confirmed all 16 arrests were completed by 6 a.m. CST. She said the investigation remains in its early stages, with officers still searching the building and interviewing those detained. The identities of everyone arrested and their ties to Didulo are still being verified. At this time, no charges have been laid.
Richmound’s village council referred all questions to RCMP.
