Local Sports Teams See Season Cut Short

Sports teams around Kindersley and area took a hit when the provincial government announced increased restrictions due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

While the Kindersley Curling Club was just three weeks into their season before the restrictions were implemented, they still took to social media to thank their sponsors via Facebook. “All of our sponsors are so much appreciated throughout the curling season, but certainly right now more than ever. We could not get through this unpredictable season without them.” Most recently they thanked their sheet 4 “ring sponsors” TKC Trucker & Picker Service and their “in ice” sponsors UFA and Castle Building Centre.

The Kindersley Klippers have taken an extended winter break, with many team members heading home after their last practice on November 26th. With the team only managing to play three of their six scheduled games, one against the Battlefords North Stars, and a two-game split against the Nipawin Hawks, the team is now setting their sights on the new year.

Although it is not yet known what the provincial government has in mind for sports moving forward, everyone is remaining positive and hopes are high play will resume soon.
