Kindersley Air Spray Donates to STARS for a Second Time

Since 1971 the Bevan family has been providing Aerial Application services to West Central Saskatchewan, beginning first in Herschel, Saskatchewan where they operated Herschel Air Services, before opening their main base in Kindersley and expanding their services to all of Saskatchewan’s west-central area.

Flying has always been a passion for Colin Bevan, who is a third-generation pilot. “Airplanes have been part of my life from my very first memories. As a child, I was able to routinely ride my tricycle in the middle of winter, around in a very large WWII aircraft hangar, located at Swift Current. Even at the age of three, I felt like the luckiest child on the planet.”

Bevan’s passion for flying is apparent in his long list of aerial achievements, he’s been past President of the Saskatchewan Aerial Applicators Association, Director for Saskatchewan Aerial Applicators Association, and Liaison Director with Saskatchewan Aviation Council. In addition to this, Bevan specializes in Ag aircraft maintenance.

Another area of flying that Bevan holds in high regard is STARS Air Ambulance, which the Bevan family recently donated $20,000 in December, 2020. This is their second time donating to this service, which provides helicopter air ambulance service to rural communities.

“I feel grateful to live in a rural environment where population density and services are spread out, and STARS and LifeGuard Air-Ambulance are critical to our safety here. By donating to STARS and their cause, I can ensure that I’m making the largest contribution back to the folks that support Kindersley Air Spray and my family.”

In deciding where to donate, Kindersley Air Spray has always considered the needs of the small communities in the west central region and particularly will be going forward as COVID has disrupted the good work of so many community service groups.

“At this point, I`m carefully observing where west central Saskatchewan’s largest unified need is as restrictions have impacted our communities. At a minimum, Kindersley Air Spray will continue to provide jet fuel and airport service to STARS in kind,” says Bevan.

Today Kindersley Air Spray runs a fleet of six aerial application aircraft (Four turbine 510 Thrushes, one radial 600 thrush and one Piper Brave 375) across Western Saskatchewan. In addition to running their large fleet, Kindersley Air Spray is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) covering everything from small piston aircraft to turbine-powered twin-engine aircraft and specializing in agricultural aircraft.
