From our latest issue: Have you tried curling?

Our goal is to keep the curling facility, and sport of curling, viable in our community.

Kindersley Curling Club is looking for you or someone you know to try curling. If you have already experienced curling or are someone who wants to try it out, we are hoping that you will consider getting in touch to see if we have an opportunity that meets your needs and interests.

Currently we have a variety of leagues featuring 4 person teams; a Men’s League on Monday nites, Mixed Leagues on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, a Junior League on Sunday afternoons. We also have an adult league on Wednesday afternoons, and introduced an Adult Learn to Curl Class sponsored by Saskatchewan Curling this year.

Our curling season runs from November to March, with options for league teams to play either the full or half season in our mixed leagues. Teams can be made up of friends, family, or corporate and we also have spots for individuals who are new to town and would like to join a team.

Kindersley Curling Club is wrapping up this year with 3 events. The Men’s Bonspiel runs from Feb 28- March 1. Our annual Chicken & Wine on March 13 & 14 is open to any team combination, (mixed, ladies, mens) and features the opportunity to try to curl to the button with a frozen chicken for a small cash prize, along with a fried chicken meal. This year we have added a new funspiel on March 20 & 21 – “The 6-6-6” and we hope that we will see some new faces and teams to try this format out. The “6-6-6” is for teams of 3, throwing 6 rocks, in 6 ends, which offers a shorter on ice time, but a great opportunity to enjoy some off-ice socializing in our lounge.

In the off-ice season, our facility is available to rent. The upstairs lounge is a perfect area for smaller get-togethers and meetings, while our ice surface is great for larger celebrations and shows.

Our goal is to keep the curling facility, and sport of curling, viable in our community. The most important way to do this is to attract and welcome new members into our club. Our existing participants are of all ages, from 8 to 80 years and beyond. We hope to increase our membership in the coming year. Maybe it could be you, your family/friends or co-workers who help us out.

So come on out and – Try Curling!
