Feds Reversal Vaccine Mandate for Truckers

Days before it was set to take effect the federal government has changed it’s stance on the vaccine mandate for Canadian truckers.

In mid-November it was announced truck drivers crossing into Canada would need to be fully vaccinated by January 15. However, transport ministry spokeswoman Rebecca Purdy has announced Canadian big-riggers will not have to quarantine if they are unvaccinated or have received only one dose. American truckers, will be turned away at the border unless they’ve been inoculated starting this weekend

The vaccine mandate has received push back, saying the mandate would put additional strain on supply chains amid the latest COVID-19 surge and severe worker shortages.

It’s been reported, that the transport minister’s office has declined to say whether the truck drivers’ exemption is temporary or indefinite.
