Go Dry This February

There’s no better way to start a fresh, new year than by changing your lifestyle to live healthier. Dry Feb is a fundraiser that challenges you to go alcohol-free in February. It helps you get healthy while raising funds to make an impact for people affected by cancer.

Since 2016, Dry Feb has inspired hundreds of thousands of people across the country to go dry and take the challenge, raising over $13M dollars to support people affected by cancer.

Proceeds from Dry Feb will help the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to fund the most promising life-saving research in Canada and provide a compassionate, nationwide support system so no one has to face cancer alone.

With nearly half of Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, support is more important than ever.

Thanks to fundraising programs like Dry Feb, last year the CCS:

-Provided a space for community and connection to more than 273,000 people affected by cancer through their online community, CancerConnection.ca and parlonscancer.ca.

-Helped more than 6,800 people get to and from cancer-related medical appointments through their Wheels of Hope transportation program.

Funded $50 million in cancer research and innovation including:
-$35.8M to enhance treatment and quality of life.
-$3M to advance cancer prevention research.
-$5.9M to improve early diagnosis.
-$13.6M to enable over 131 clinical trials to test new strategies to treat and prevent cancer.

By signing up to Dry Feb, not only are you helping to raise funds for cancer research, giving up alcohol also has health benefits for you. The truth is unsettling, but it’s a fact: drinking any type of alcohol can increase your risk of head and neck, breast, stomach, pancreatic, liver and colorectal cancer.

Drinking about 3.5 drinks a day doubles or even triples your risk of developing cancer of the mouth, pharynx, larynx and esophagus. Drinking about 3.5 drinks a day increases your risk of developing colorectal cancer and breast cancer by 1.5 times.

Signing up to the Dry Feb challenge is easy (and free)! Sign up at dryfeb.ca and follow the simple steps to create your personalized profile page where you can receive donations, post updates, and find links to share your profile page to social media.
