Kindersley Minor Ball Regretfully Cancels Season
By Mallorie Rast
Last evening, Kindersley Minor Ball reached a decision regarding the rest of the 2020 season. In light of the complex requirements in returning to play, the organization regretfully announced that they have cancelled all plans for 2020.
Kindersley Minor Ball President, Chad Miller, said the decision was difficult and only made after intense reviewing of baseball and softball Return to Play specifications put forth by Baseball Sask and Softball Sask.
This year has been a rough one for KMB. First, COVID-19 lockdowns prevented the organization from even starting the season. In the second week of June, conflicting messages from the Government of Saskatchewan raised hopes of a kick-off for the 2020 ball season, only to have them run aground as the government retracted its statements less than 24-hours later. That same weekend, Baseball Sask cancelled all Provincial Championships.
Even though Phase 4.2 on June 29th technically gave clearance for KMB to start playing ball, the stiff regulations and requirements surrounding the much-shortened 2020 season without championships, pushed KMB to cancel the season.
Miller noted that KMB will have a plan of action in place for 2021, should regulations remain the same for that season.
