2022 Senior AA Tier 2 Provincials

By Kevin Martin

It was an unbelievable weekend of baseball from August 5 -7. There were fly outs, run downs, player ejections, home runs, foul balls, sacrifice flys, umpire disputes, double plays and more!

Five teams competed for the title of champion; Kindersley Stallions, Cabri River Rats, Wilkie Brewers, Standard Hill Lakers and the North Battleford Beavers.

The level of baseball played was excellent from all teams, however, only two can play for the gold. All teams battled hard all weekend. The weather on Friday was cool and windy but as the weekend progressed the weather returned to normal summer weather in the high 20’s.

The crowds were good for all the games too. Very vocal and cheering on their favorite team. The beer gardens were busy as was Laurie’s Rolling Kitchen serving hot dogs and other assorted treats.

It was an exciting final game as Kindersley played Standard Hill with Standard Hill winning a close game by a score of 3 to 1. Standard Hill pitcher Joe Serna went the distance and pitched a great game. Kindersley bats were lively and had many hits but it seemed someone was always there to catch the ball.

All in all it was a very successful weekend and many fans were entertained.
