Springfield Colony Donates Sink to Kindersley Fire

A huge thank you to Springfield Colony for their generous donation to the Kindersley Fire. Imagine the Department’s surprise when they asked for the bill and the reply they received was “nope we’re donating it.”

The newly fabricated sink will be used for cleaning and maintenance of the Department’s SCBA harness’ and other equipment such as: all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), bunker gear, trucks, hoses, and tools. The sink will also allow Kindersley Fire to get the equipment back into service in a timely fashion since after every use, the equipment needs to decontaminated, cleaned, and dried before put back into service.

The SCBA equipment (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) is a device worn to provide breathable air in an atmosphere that is immediately dangerous to life or health. If firefighters use dirty or improperly cleaned SCBA equipment it can cause them to breath in the harmful soot and carcinogens, causing negative, long-term health problems. The best way to combat this is by cleaning all of the gear immediately after attending a call.
