Ken Francis Is Not to Seek Re-Election in 2024
Ken Francis, who has served as MLA for the Kindersley area since 2018, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election in 2024. In a Facebook post Ken stated, “After many months of conversation, deliberation, analysis (and life considerations in general), I have come to the decision that I will be done with political life (at the end of this current term) in the fall of 2024.”
Mr. Francis started his political career as deputy Mayor in Kindersley before moving into Provincial politics as a member of the Saskatchewan Party in 2017. This career path is a major commitment of time and energy including extensive travel. The decision was made not to run in the next election so he could look ahead to retirement and focus more time to family in the coming years.
Ken was born and raised in the West Central area, growing up on a farm near Mantario. He later settled in Kindersley with his wife Karen Francis and children. Having deep-seated roots in the area he has been honoured to serve as MLA, His involvement in the community, agriculture, and energy sectors allowed him to serve this area for two terms.
In a phone interview with Kindersley Social Ken stated, “I am really thankful for the support the community and constituency have given me over the past 5 years.” He will be finishing out his duties and continuing to serve the area until the 2024 election.
In an official statement from Premier Scott Moe, he offered words of thanks “Ken has been an important part of our government and our Saskatchewan Party team and will be missed,” Moe said.
