Obituaries: Lindsay Holmes
May 9, 1938 ~ October 3, 2020 (age 82)
With great sadness we announce the passing of Lindsay Carlyle Holmes on October 3, 2020 after a long- fought courageous battle with cancer. Lindsay passed peacefully at his home with his loving wife Ruth, his daughters Michele and Marnie and his granddaughters Breanne and Kylee at his side.
Lindsay was born on May 9, 1938 to parents Offa & Estella Holmes of Paynton, SK. He met his wife and became teenage sweethearts celebrating 58 memorable years of marriage with her. He moved to the Kindersley area in 1962 and finally set roots down in Coleville, SK where he was an active member and mayor of the community. Lindsay loved the small town and the abundance of life-time friends he found there.
After his retirement in 2004, Lindsay and Ruth moved to their cottage on Brightsand Lake, SK where he spent his time with great friends, golfing, curling and creating memorable memories with his wife & family.
He had a fierce love of his grand children & great-grand children: Breanne (Sheldon) Brayln & Myles Goodheart, Lindsay (Candace) Cannan & Easton Whitfield, Katlin (Kim) Shipley & Kylee Shipley.
He will be greatly missed by his son in laws Darwin Whitfield & Aaron Shipley and the common interest they shared and enjoyed. Family vacations at the lake, in the US and Colombia will be cherished memories.
Words cannot begin to explain how grateful we were to have him as our King, leader and soul of our family. We are proud and honored to have had him in our lives for as long as God allowed.
A COVID friendly private service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020.
