“No Two Incidents Are the Same,” Shares Kindersley Fire

Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Department.

This time of year, one of the KFDs most common calls for service are M.V.C.s or Motor Vehicle Collisions. These kinds of calls can be quite involved, and no two incidents are the same. Our members train for these incidents year-round in the snow, rain, and sun as we never know what weather conditions we could be in. We train regularly with our new electric extrication tools as well as with our vehicle stabilization equipment, and traffic control techniques. This kind of regular training ensures our members have the skills they need to serve our community, and to stay safe while doing it.

Hopefully all that snow we received this past weekend hasn’t caused anyone too many problems! The amount of snow that fell can be hard to deal with quickly, but hopefully after digging out your front door you will remember to dig out the back door as well! Keeping at least two safe ways out of your house accessible at all times can be crucial in an emergency. Not only for you and your family to get out, it’s also important if we need to get in. This could mean keeping obstacles away from doors and windows or keeping decks and stairs in good condition. One other thing to note after a heavy snowfall is keeping fire hydrants near your homes clear of snow at least three feet on all sides and accessible from the street.
