“It’s a sign of appreciation for the people whose hard work makes life easier for the rest of us during a really tough time,” said Alberta Premier Jason Kenney. Grocery store staff, dental assistants, truckers, teacher assistants, bus drivers and cleaning staff are among those eligible.
Alberta’s premier announced $465 million for 380,000 public and private sector workers Wednesday in the form of $1,200-lump sum payments.
The province said the critical worker benefit will be available to health care, social services, education and private sector workers “who deliver critical services to Albertans or support food and medical supply chains.”
