WCA’s New Program Building Update
We know that the community and our many supporters are curious about what is happening with the progress on our new building, and WCA is excited to announce they will be starting construction in the spring of this year!
The planning process has taken longer than expected, allowing for a detailed design to meet the current needs of the organization and allow for growth in services once the building is complete. The agency is future-focused and has adapted its building plans to allow for adding on down the road as funding becomes available to continue meeting the evolving needs of our community.
The new facility will be a 5068 SQFT 2 story building equipped with an elevator, therapy/physio room, barrier-free shower/change room, accessible washrooms on all floors, multi-purpose room and more.
All areas will be used for training and education to help individuals develop life skills and vocational skills such as the kitchen, classrooms, and training office. Dedicated spaces will exist for sensory supports, recreation and leisure activities, green space, and social events. This space will also be a place for those in our programs to invite family, friends, and community members in to build relationships and share their knowledge and skills.
WCA is still raising money for this project and accepting donations. If you would like to donate, you can do so on our website www.westcentralabilities.ca or by contacting us at 306-463-2727. Our fundraising committee, board of directors, individuals served, and staff team would like to extend our thanks to all of the individuals, organizations, municipalities and community groups who have donated and allowed us to move forward with this valuable project!
Please watch for an invitation to the Grand Opening in 2022 at our new location on 1st Avenue West.
