Two Local Businesses Celebrate Their First Year!

Two Kindersley businesses recently celebrated their one-year anniversary–and what a year it has been! While COVID was sweeping the country, Trina Koska and Jeff Santos took a leap of faith and opened their businesses.

Trina Koska’s boutique, Curvessence Apparel, which opened May 19th, is located at 511 Main Street and reflects the bright animation she hopes to impart to her customers. Amethyst walls, attractively lined with colourful apparel, give a feeling of optimistic energy as soon as you step inside the door.

The shop’s collection starts at size 14 and ranges in styles from comfy to classy. In addition to having a wonderful range of clothes, customers can also shop on curvessence.ca

“Thank you everyone for making this year memorable! I’m looking forward to many more anniversaries!,” said Koska.

Located at 609 Main Street, Swirl Cafe serves more than just treats, because each time you walk in, a team member greets you with a smile, and a genuine “how is your day going?”

Swirl Cafe started out with modest beginnings and a different name. A few years ago, Swirl consisted of a folding chair, a portable freezer, a table for fixings, and a shade canopy. Under the name Swirl Ice Cream, the small stand would set up during some weekends and during town and non-profit events. However, after opening their doors on May 17th, they have grown to not only serve ice cream and delicious coffee but also cold drinks, sandwiches and wraps. In addition, there are always beautiful displays showcasing items for purchase from local vendors.

“As we mark our first year in business, I would say it was hard, stressful and I have missed out on family time, but everything was worth it! The feeling that we have accomplished and created a space where we can provide great products and deliver service that can create smiles and happiness to the community is something we’re proud of!” says co-owner, Jeff Santos.
