Obituaries: Stephen ‘Bob’ Robert Stone

With heavy hearts the family of Robert ‘Bob’ Stone announce his passing on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 86 years.

Bob Stone, of Eston, Saskatchewan, finished his race and passed into the presence of his Lord on December 22, 2023 at the age of 86. Bob, husband of Mona, faithfully served many years as a pastor of the Sedalia Full Gospel Church, and as a teacher at Full Gospel Bible Institute/ Eston College, and he and Mona raised a family of five kids, 14 grandkids, and 6 great-grandkids.

Bob was born to Jelmer and Ellen Stone, in Calgary on February 19, 1937, and was raised, together with his older siblings, Edwin and Eva, on their family farm near Kathyrn, AB. As a young man he attended Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, SK, where he met his future wife, Mona Hartley. Bob and Mona were married on August 11, 1962 at the Calgary Full Gospel Church.

They moved to Consort, AB in 1964 to begin giving pastoral leadership to both the Consort Full Gospel Church, and the nearby Sedalia Full Gospel Church. In January of 1968, Bob and Mona moved to Eston, where he first served in the printing department of the Full Gospel Bible Institute, and then as a teacher for many years in the college. Meanwhile Bob and Mona continued to travel to Sedalia, AB on weekends to pastor the congregation there for 23 years.

Bob is survived by his wife Mona to whom he was faithfully married for 61 years, his older brother Edwin Stone, and older sister Eva Gossen. Bob and Mona’s children are Ron (Tami) Stone, Rhonda (Dave) McLeod, Wray (Laura) Stone, Rob (Angelika) Stone, and Dave Stone. The grandchildren are Zach (Janelle) McLeod, Kaleb (Melody) McLeod, Wyatt (Carly) McLeod, Branford Stone, Katie (Roy) Gutierrez, Elizabeth Stone, Eston Stone, Everett Stone, Nathaniel Stone, Alexa Stone, Tiegan Stone, Theoren Stone, Dayton Stone, and Vince Stone. And the great-grandchildren are Lucy McLeod, Angus McLeod, Swayzie McLeod, Cruz McLeod, Wilbur McLeod, and Lonnie McLeod. Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

There will be a memorial service held for Bob on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 from the Eston Full Gospel Church with Rev. Greg Cooper officiating.
