Provincial Fire Ban Lifted

The provincial fire ban has officially been lifted.

The ban was put in place in provincial parks, Crown lands and throughout northern Saskatchewan July 2nd, 2021.

In a news release Monday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency said the decision was made because of cooler weather and rainfall. However, the change doesn’t mean that everyone in the province can light a camp fire; municipalities can still have fire bans. You can see the latest list of those here.

The public is reminded to be mindful of their local risks and to practice fire safety as there is still a fire risk. As of Monday morning, there were still 161 wildfires burning in Saskatchewan and only 15 were contained.
