An Update on Construction in the Area
Most of us are aware of the construction happening around town. Although it may be a disruption now, the work that is occurring on Highway 7 came after a corridor study, aimed at trying to improve traffic flow and safety.
Valued at nearly 2.2 million dollars, these improvements are part of a 100 million dollar commitment the provincial government made to improve safety at intersections all over Saskatchewan.
Currently, a traffic light is being removed at Main Street, with one being added on 2nd Street East. After completion drivers will be permitted to make right-hand turns only at these intersections to get on to Highway 7.
Concrete medians will create better traffic flow. Some Highway 7 access points will be removed.
“We understand that when we are building, the normal pattern is disrupted, but in the end, we wind up with something better than before. We ask people to be patient and to slow down in the work zone to protect the workers present,” said David Horth, Director of Communications, Saskatchewan Government.
While not great weather for farmers and those fighting the provincial forest fires, from a construction point of view, if the warm, dry weather continues, it looks like the work will be wrapped up by fall.
