Battlefords Gang Task Force Recover Stolen Vehicle and Other Items

The Battlefords Gang Task Force have taken a 26-year-old male into custody after he was stopped while driving a stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of 97th Street.

When officers searched the vehicle they discovered the male was in possession of a machete, bear mace and ammunition.

The male will be appearing in court today (August 4, 2021,) and is facing two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of suspected failing to comply with various court orders and two counts of suspected possession of property obtained by crime.

The Battlefords Task Force was created in response to the significant increase in gun crime and violence occurring in the Battlefords area at the end of 2019. The Task Force has already made hundreds of arrests and is regularly pulling guns and drugs off the streets in the Battlefords area. Only one drive-by shooting has occurred since its creation in November 2019.
