Klippers vs Yorkton

It was an extremely busy night at the WCEC in Kindersley as there was a U-13 hockey tournament taking place AND the Kindersley Jr. Klippers were facing off against the visiting Yorkton Terriers. Both teams had an almost identical records with Yorkton have 1 more loss than the Jrs. The Terriers came in with a big chip on their shoulders as they had been beaten by Battleford in their previous 2 games and they desperately wanted to avenge those losses. Kindersley on the other hand won their last game and were riding high.

Both teams scored power play goals and Jr. Captain Logan Linklater had a beauty of a short-handed goal! It was an exciting see-saw game with 1 team scoring and then the other team scoring. A little fisticuffs and rough play in the 3rd period demonstrated how much both teams wanted to win. Fortunately, the Klippers Logan Linklater (again) scored the final goal with 15.7 seconds left on the score clock and won by a 7 – 6 margin. Starting Klipper goalie Logan Falk was replaced by “Noodles” Jaman for the 2nd and 3rd periods in an attempt to kick start the boys in blue. Kindersley also outshot the Yorkton club 35 to 29. Terriers goalie Blake Sittler played very well as the Klips had many high quality scoring chances.

It was an extremely entertaining and nail-biting game for the 725 plus fans who came out to watch. Long time Klipper volunteer, Stephen Chandler, received an award for his outstanding years of service.

Next Klipper home game is Wednesday, November 8th when the Weyburn Red Wings visit the “Hangar” in the WCEC. Puck drops at 7:30.
