​New Principal at Dinsmore Composite School

Dakota De Caux, currently a high school teacher at Dinsmore Composite School (DCS) will be the new Principal of the school starting in the fall of 2023-24 school year.

“We are excited to have Dakota join our administrator team,” said Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore, “she will bring with her impeccable academic qualifications combined with her enthusiasm for learning across a wide diversity of areas. This will bring so much benefit to her school, her community and the entire Division.”

Ms. De Caux is a graduate of Dene High School in La Loche, Saskatchewan and holds three degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with High Honours in 2014. She followed that up with a Bachelor of Education with majors in Secondary Level Biology and Chemistry in 2016. She completed her Master of Education in Educational Foundations in 2020.

Ms. De Caux started her teaching career in 2016 teaching sciences at Dene High School and in 2020 started teaching sciences and maths at Central Butte School. In 2021 she became a science and math teacher and Personalized electronically Blended Learning (PeBL) Mentor at Dinsmore Composite School.

During her career, Ms. De Caux engaged in a wide range of professional development opportunities in such areas as trauma integrated education, food safety, Indigenous perspectives, agriculture, mining, forestry, mental health as well as numerous programs related to her teaching areas of math and science. She has also been a student leadership and graduation advisor, staff representative to School Community Councils and a volleyball coach.

“I have loved teaching at DCS for the last two years and look forward to working with all students and families in my new role this fall!” Stated Ms. De Caux. “I am excited for the opportunity to share my passions for anti-racist/anti-oppressive education, student-led projects, cross-curricular learning opportunities, land-based learning, and student voice/choice in all aspects of school culture and climate. I consider it an honour and privilege to work with our future generations each and every day!” She added.
