WRITE OUT LOUD Season 2021-2022 Takes to the Lyric Stage

The Write Out Loud Committee is pleased to announce the upcoming series of author readings scheduled for presentation at the Swift Current Lyric Theatre.

The line-up for 2021 -2022 includes:

September 15 – D. M. Ditson – Wide Open is a raw and emotional memoir of faith and loss of faith and sexual assault and the astounding human capacity to heal. Ditson is originally from Regina, now living in Nelson, BC.

October 20 – Miriam Korner – a writer and illustrator, originally from Germany, now living with her husband and 12 sled dogs near La Ronge. Her love for the north and the people there inspires her writing and art for children and young adults.

November 17 – Sheri Benning – English Professor at the U of S – Award-winning poet – Her fourth poetry collection, Field Requiem, is to be published fall, 2021, and she has a novel in progress.

February 16 – Local Writers’ Night

March 9 – Lisa Bird-Wilson – a Metis and nehiyaw writer living in Saskatoon, a survivor of the 60’s Scoop. Her collection of short stories, Just Pretending, and book of poetry, The Red Files, have won numerous awards. Bird-Wilson’s novel, Probably Ruby, is to be released in fall, 2021.

April 20 – Michelle Good – Member of Red Pheasant First Nation, now a lawyer and writer in south central British Columbia. Her debut novel, Five Little Indians has won a Governor-General’s Literary Award, an Amazon First Novel Award, a Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, and was long-listed for the Giller Prize. With compassion and insight, Five Little Indians chronicles the desperate quest of five residential school survivors to come to terms with their past and, ultimately, find a way forward. Don’t miss this one!

Admission is $8.00, and doors open at the Lyric Theatre at 6:30. Musical entertainment begins at 7:00 with the featured author to follow. If, however, the Lyric is not open for performances, WOL presenters may be accessed on and following their scheduled dates through the theatre’s Facebook page or at “Lyric Digital Stage Write Out Loud” on YouTube.
