Polls Have Opened!

Today marks the 44th time we, Canadians, will vote to select our federal leader.

Polls opened today at 7:30 a.m. and will close tonight, locally at 7:30 p.m.

Voting is easy, simply head to your polling location, which has been identified on your Voter Information Card–one piece of photo I.D. which includes your name and address is all that is required to receive a ballot.

However, if you do not have any forms of photo I.D. you will need to produce two pieces of I.D. that include your name and address. Forms of I.D. include passports, blood donor card, health cards, pension plan statement, tax assessments, firearms licence or your SIN card. Your Voter Information Card may serve as one of these pieces along with a utility bill.

If you don’t have ID, you can still vote if you declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you.

The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address. A person can vouch for only one person (except in long-term care facilities).

Further voting information can be found here.
