SaskPower Offers Program to Save on Costs this Fall

By Mallorie Rast

Rising energy bills and lowering income is a stressful situation that many households may find themselves in this winter as the weather officially moves to “sweater-weather.” After a pilot program earlier in the year, SaskPower is now offering a limited space Energy Assistance Program to families who are interested in becoming more energy efficient.

One of the culprits in rising energy costs are inefficient appliances, lighting and furnaces. However, many can find themselves caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place as it is too expensive to keep the old light fixture, but there are not enough funds to purchase anything new and efficient.

This is where the program steps in to provide funding in order to make the necessary upgrades. The program is partially funded by the Government of Canada and SaskPower customers in the province can look to see if they are eligible for the program. Households enrolled in this program can save up to $230 over the year.

As space is limited, families and households are encouraged to apply early. In order to apply, visit saskpower.com/effciency programs and tips/energy assistance program.
