Dragseth Bookkeeping Doubles in Size and Hopes to Expand Operations!
We love chatting with local business owners! Recently we had the privilege of catching up with Sarah Dragseth of Dragseth Bookkeeping Services, who shared a little bit about herself and her services!
For those of us who don’t know you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Sarah Dragseth and I moved to Kindersley from Lethbridge, AB in 2012. My husband Braden Dragseth, was born and raised in Kindersley and together we have two daughters who are 5 and 1.
I graduated from Lethbridge College with a diploma in Accounting in 2009 and was given an opportunity for an office manager position right after graduation. Since then, I’ve gained 13 years of bookkeeping experience in various industries including farming, oil & gas, construction, small contractors, food and beverage and retail.
Can you tell me about Dragseth Bookkeeping?
Dragseth Bookkeeping opened in September 2017 as a home-based business after my first maternity leave. I started with a few clients, working solo in a basement office. In four and half years, the company has doubled in size which allowed me to hire on Brooklyn Clarke as a fellow bookkeeper. We now operate out of an office space on Main Street Kindersley. New clients are always welcome as we look to expand operations over the next few years.
What types of services do you offer?
We offer every bookkeeping service from day-to-day data entry, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll, which includes T4 and WCB processing. We also provide clients with an annual year end preparation of records for their accountants.
Were you always drawn to this type of profession?
Bookkeeping was never on my radar until I went to college. I initially enrolled in the business program for business management. After my first year I realized, I was drawn to the accounting side of the program and made the switch from the management program. Fast forward to today and I love what I do! Bookkeeping is the heart of a business, everything is linked in one way or another, its like a big puzzle each month. It’s a rewarding feeling when you complete the puzzle and it all makes sense. I’m very detail orientated and this career path just made sense to me.
Any challenges in today’s changing landscape?
With the exception of the COVID-19 government subsidies and programs implemented over the last two years not much changes in our profession. It was definitely a learning process and fast-paced with information changing daily. We learned, we managed and came out the other side with more knowledge and skills.
