Kayden Johnson Joins KidSport as Ambassador

Kayden Johnson has joined KidSport as an Ambassador!

Johnson was born and raised in our area, attending school and competed in one of his many sports (hurdling, and track and field) out of Kindersley. After graduating, Johnson attended the University of Saskatchewan for one year before transferring to York University where he excelled in both track and football.

In 2020, Johnson was drafted by the BC Lions. However, with the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Johnson’s CFL career was put on pause. He used that time to pursue a spot on the Canadian bobsled team. Johnson made the 33-man team and is now looking to represent Canada in the Winter Olympic Games in 2026 in Italy!

KidSport began as a program of Sport BC, with a goal to help families overcome the prohibitive cost of sport. Since then, they’ve expanded across Canada, giving tens of thousands of kids each year the opportunity to participate in organized sport.

The sad reality is that the current cost of sports keeps 1 in 3 Canadian kids out of organized sport, especially those from marginalized or remote communities. That’s where KidSport comes in.

Through a confidential application process, we provide grants of between $250 – $500 to help cover sport registration and equipment costs so that all kids aged 18 and under can play a season of sport.
