A young British girl, Bella-Jay Dark, is believed to be the world’s youngest author after having her book published.
It started out when Bella-Jay Dark’s parents thought it was just “one of those things” children say after their daughter stated she was going to write a book. Her mom, Chelsie, admitted she did not have high expectations when Bella first told her she planned to pen a book.
However, she worked hard on her manuscript and after going to a book fair, someone there said they wanted to publish it!
The book promises to deliver a ‘powerful and positive safety message to children’ through the allegory of a kitten that finds itself astray and regretful after venturing out of the house without its mother. The Lost Cat can be purchased on Amazon and Waterstones (a British book retailer) for £4 (roughly $7).
Now that her book is in publication it means Bella-Jay is the youngest author in the world, taking the title from Abhijita Gupta who last year broke the record at age seven. To claim the official Guinness World Record accolade of youngest author, she needs to sell 1,000 copies of the book.
Bella-Jay already has her eye on further books with planning underway for future titles.
