Happy Holidays from Kindersley Fire!

Hello, Cody Phinney back for another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.

This past weekend members from the KFD attended the Town of Kindersley Christmas Party, which the Town graciously invites us to every year. Its always great to spend some time with our colleagues at Public Works, Town Council and from the R.M. 290. We were treated to a meal prepared by Simply Satisfied Catering and enjoyed dueling pianos for entertainment. Thank you to Loreen, Anna and all the other staff from the Town office for hosting a great evening. Speaking of parties, this week our Social Club will be hosting a Kids Christmas party for the younger members of our fire families. The kids will be taking part in gingerbread house decorating, a scavenger hunt and pizza for supper. I’m sure they’ve all been on Santas nice list this year too and might even get some special treats.

Christmas is just around the corner, and that means gifts, food and decorations! One of the most important Christmas decorations is of course, the Christmas Tree! If you’re the type of family who enjoys the look and smell of a real tree, there are some tips you should keep in mind. When choosing a tree, you should always try to choose the freshest tree available. You can do this by feeling the needles and selecting a tree with green needles that do not fall off when touched. Trees should be watered daily to maintain moisture content and to keep their flammability as low as possible. Always make sure to use tree safe lights and to keep trees at least three feet away from any potential heat sources. They may look and smell nice, but its important to dispose of a tree properly right after the holidays or when it starts to drop its needles. And of course, you should always make sure your smoke alarms are working properly when using indoor decorations such as trees, lights or candles. Mery Christmas and Happy Holidays!
