Mother’s Day Tea at The Barn

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, mother-daughter duo Mary and Paige Sawatzky are bringing back their Mother’s Day High Tea!

“Mary travelled to India and attended a High Tea, and thought why can’t we do it here at The Barn in Herschel?”

Their first High Tea was in 2017, with the aim to create a space and day where anyone could feel comfortable joining in. “We chose to have our High Tea on Mother’s Day as it is sometimes a bittersweet day, meaning it can be very joyful for some and very sad for others. We wanted to create a day where there was an activity to enjoy in whatever capacity—being a diversion or a celebration.”

Something every mom needs is moments of relaxation and pampering, and this year, Mary and Paige have partnered up with local vendors to help create such an atmosphere. “We like to involve and promote local vendors. This year we are collaborating with Melissa Wintle from Herbal Twist Tea out of Alsask. She creates her own blends and is a Herbal Wellness Consultant. Jackie Oswald with Jackies Delicious Delights from Netherhill is our choice of cater. She always delivers the highest quality cuisine. Brenda Meyers from Brock, who has Fifth Avenue Jewellery, is always a hit with the ladies and will be joining us. As an added attraction Carol Taylor Energy Treatments from Kindersley will delight us with Angel Card Reading if they so desire.”

During the 1880s upper-class and society women would change into long gowns, gloves and hats for their afternoon tea which was usually served in the drawing room, so in keeping with that spirit, those who join Mary and Paige are encouraged to dress up and wear fancy hats, but not to worry if you don’t have a fancy at, they also provide them!

“We want to transport people to another place, another time with those they love with delicious food and tea. We hope to see mothers, daughter, sons, fathers and friends on May 14, 2023, at The Barn Herschel. People can choose from two seatings 11:00am or 3:00pm, and tickets are $30.00 per person.
