The KFD Welcomes Special Guests
Hello, Cody Phinney here again with another update from the Kindersley Fire Brigade.
Last week the KFB hosted 16 guests from West Central Abilities for a tour of the fire hall. Our PubEd team showed off the trucks, gear, and took the time to share some fire safety tips. We would like to thank to co-ordinators and staff at West Central Abilities for facilitating an exciting visit. For more pictures of the event, please see our Facebook page. If your group or association could benefit from a visit with us at the hall, please reach out to firepubed@kindersley.ca for information.
Our members spent last weeks practice out at the training grounds on the southwest side of town, practicing proper techniques for fighting different kinds of fires including flammable liquids, as well as fires fueled by wood. These types of live fire training sessions are crucially important for our members to have the skills and knowledge necessary to extinguish fires in many different scenarios safely. We will be out in the training grounds more often moving forward, so don’t be alarmed if you see our trucks or smoke in that area on Monday nights.
Summertime is everyone’s favorite time of year. Being able to get away for some much needed holiday time is always a blast. But summer always brings increased traffic on the roads as people travel to and from lakes and cabins, as well as highway construction and repair work. Please remember to slow down and take your time on the highways, especially through construction zones. Fatalities involving motor vehicles increases by upwards of 20% during the summer. The best ways to avoid potential incidents is to slow down, don’t drive distracted, and to never drive while impaired.
I hope everyone continues to have a safe and fun summer.
