A 15 year-old male is facing charges after a weapons incident yesterday evening in the Coronation Park neighbourhood of Regina. Two persons were injured, but fortunately, the injuries were relatively minor.
At approximately 8:39 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 3022, several police units were dispatched to the area of Lorimer Crescent for a report of a firearms offence. Two youths asked a bystander to call police, saying they’d been shot at, by persons they recognized, who were in a black Ford Escape. One youth was hit in the hand, the other was struck in the arm, by projectiles believed to be BBs. While some officers were taking statements from the victims, other officers did an area check and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on a truck in the area. In all, there were five persons interviewed in connection with this investigation. Further investigation led to charges against one male youth.
The accused youth cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is charged with:
Possession of Imitation Weapon for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace, s. 88 CC; and
2 X Discharge BB Gun with Intent, s. 244.1(a) CC;
The youth as released on an Undertaking to appear in Youth Court on September 20, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
