Looking Back at Past Septembers

By Jenny Hagan

Blasted with a record breaking heat wave for the beginning of September here in Saskatchewan
this year its hard to recall that only a few years ago Saskatchewan was setting a differ kind of
record in September…for snow.

September 27-30th, 2019 buried Southern Alberta in 95cm of snow drifting into SW
Saskatchewan where the 40 cm of heavy wet snow closed highways and knocked out power.

While Kindersley only received around 10 cm of that our neighbours a little south weren’t quite
that lucky with Cypress Hills receiving 40 cm.

While it doesn’t appear that this September will end the same the farmer’s Almanac does call
for an early start to winter and a cold and wet one we can bask in the nice fall temps for a bit
longer.
