Red Flags Raised for Province’s Wildfire Task Force Thanks to Warmer Winter
The Prince Albert Grand Council Wildfire Task Force in Saskatchewan is expressing concern over the unusually warm winter and scant snowfall, anticipating heightened wildfire risks.
During a recent meeting, the task force discussed the Canadian Forest Service’s report of an early start to the wildfire season in the north.
In response, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is planning to collaborate extensively with the Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) to develop community-based strategies for wildfire prevention and management.
This action follows the evacuation of hundreds of residents in northern Saskatchewan during the severe 2023 wildfire season, which was recorded as Canada’s most devastating wildfire season to date.
