ART & Soul:
My show “ART & Soul” exhibits various pieces of my artwork from 2015 to 2022. I am sharing work made of multiple mediums such as photography, relief printmaking, drawing, and silkscreen printmaking. Creating is my true passion. Everything depicted here today comes from the heart, which is where the title “ART & Soul” derives from. A lot of time was dedicated to these pieces. Most of it personal time, some of it, class time during my time at Medicine Hat College. Long hours, many coffees, and so much love was put into these pieces. Many of the pieces in this show are scenes from places that I would call “home” at one time or another. They include West Central Saskatchewan, scenes from the lake during the summer, and Medicine Hat, Ab. Several of my pieces feature the beauty of nature in Saskatchewan. Others feature the industries that keep Saskatchewan alive – oil and gas and our vast croplands. I hope that you will take home a reminder that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that you do not have to go far to find picturesque scenery.
About the Artist:
Something that keeps me coming back to art, is the ability to work with my hands and escape the “real world” for a little while. With “everything that is going on in the world” as most people say, it can be stressful, and artwork is something that both relaxes me and allows me to use my imagination.
My favourite mediums to work with include photography, relief printmaking, and serigraphy. I have been commissioned to create graphic designs, drawings, and paintings as well. I am often inspired by the views that we have right here in our own backyard in West Central Saskatchewan. I find pleasure in going on road trips, long or short, and taking photos.
From a young age, I have always been interested in the arts, from drawing lessons, to dance class, to learning how to play the piano. My training includes an Associate of Arts & Science from Pre-Journalism at Medicine Hat College and a Bachelor of Applied Arts from the Visual Communications program also from MHC. I have been lucky enough to showcase my work at multiple markets in the area, Swirl Café in Kindersley, the One on One Gallery at MHC, and now here at the Kerrobert Courthouse Gallery.
Through my art I focus on creating a positive atmosphere for anyone to enjoy.
