Halloween Celebrations!
Halloween is a very exciting day for many at West Central Abilities! We look forward to the opportunity to dress up, have some fun and eat some treats each year!
This year we were able to attend Wheatland Regional Centre’s Annual Halloween Dance Party in Rosetown. On the Friday before Halloween Brooke, Chantelle, Greg, and Irene along with Alyssa and Brianna headed to Rosetown. They enjoyed the morning and into the afternoon grooving on the dance floor! Check out the sweet moves in our short video clip. Some of the individuals were lucky enough to win prizes during the dance! A bonus to all the fun. The Rosetown crew had arranged for a Slurpee machine which was a special treat, A delicious lunch was also served, and we were able to visit with people from Outlook, Rosetown and North Battleford who we hadn’t seen in a couple years! Thank you so much to Wheatland for hosting a wonderful event once again!!
On Halloween day, the Activity Centre held a Halloween Party for everyone. After admiring everyone’s costume, we started the morning with a spooky freeze dance contest to get moving. We explored our spooky Halloween sensory bowls again. They were filled with intestines (coloured spaghetti), eyeballs in slime (grapes in Jell-O), and severed fingers (peeled hotdogs). EWW! Next, we listened to some more spooky Halloween music and worked on a variety of Halloween activities including word searches, colouring pages and seek and find activities. It was exciting to see Alivya in her mummy outfit when she stopped by for a visit with her mom, Amanda.
For lunch each person had the chance to build their own sub sandwich for lunch with a side of fruit salad. It was delicious! After lunch we watched the Halloween movie The Curse of Bridge Hollow. The day ended with treat bags from the staff and popcorn to enjoy at home. What a wonderful day!
