Firearms and Explosives Found During Regina Traffic Stop
On November 20, 2022, around 6:15 a.m. a member of the Regina Police Service Canine Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of King Street.
When officers approached the vehicle they could see the front passenger was wearing a camouflage, bullet proof style vest. When officers opened the front passenger door, they observed what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in the side door compartment. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and upon further search of the vehicle, police located a loaded .22 caliber sawed off rifle between the front passenger seat and the middle console. The Regina Police Service Explosive Disposal Unit was called to the scene to assist in disposing of the explosive device, which was later determined to be an improvised incendiary device (Molotov cocktail).
Twenty-four year-old, Mathew James Gallinger of Regina, is charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a vehicle [CC 94(1)]
Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(a)]
Transport a Firearm in a Careless Manner [CC 86(1)]
Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace [CC 88]
Unlawful Possession of Explosives [CC 82(1)]
Gallinger made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022.
