Kindersley Chamber Features Prairie Rose Floral and Gift Shop

By Kevin Martin

Everything is coming up roses; and other flowers and plants at the Prairie Rose Floral and Gift shop! I was fresh as a daisy after talking with owner Deb Wooldridge. I went out on a limb and didn’t beat around the bush when we had our conversation. Please forgive the horticultural idioms.

Deb became the owner of Prairie Rose Floral and Gift and opened on February 1st, 1991 in the Midtown Mall on 1st Street. Deb had always had a dream of opening a business and combined that with her love of flowers and plants and went to school to become a florist. Approx 5 years later, she moved to a new location at 213 Main Street and in 2010 she moved again to the present location at 400 Main Street.

Deb is proud of the fact that all her bedding plants are locally grown and is a distributor of Free Trade Certified Flowers.

Prairie Rose offers custom designing of floral arrangements for all occasions from weddings, home, office and any other occasion you can think of. As well, you can also have custom designed gift baskets that can include fruit, flowers, candy, gourmet foods, candles and whatever else you can think of! It can be ordered on-line or give them a call and they will even deliver in town.

In the spring, Deb will be ramping up for a busy garden season. Her son Tyler is the main grower and has done and continues to do a marvelous job. Bedding plants have always been a part of the Prairie Rose experience. Prairie Rose Greenhouse is located at 106 – 3rd Avenue West and May 1st is the anticipated date to start but Mother Nature may have other plans. Having an outdoor wedding? No worries! They also have outdoor planters, trees and all the trimmings to make a special day even better.

Tropical plants, home décor, jewellery and jewellery repair, kitchen accessories, gift ware and cards for any occasion can be found at Prairie Rose Floral and Gift.

Deb has been a Chamber of Commerce member for a couple of years and is really a big supporter of shopping locally. She spoke with pride to be in business for so long (31 years and counting) and thanks everyone from the community for their support.

Flowers can be sent worldwide through Teleflora.–one phone call does it all. Flowers are grown in many countries such as South America, United States, Holland and Canada.

For those of us last-minute shoppers, Prairie Rose always has a good selection of flowers for walk-ins who need something in a hurry. Come in and say hi to Deb and her staff and see all the products and services she offers and you can also visit her at www.prairierosefloral.com.
