SaskTel Retracts Decision to Implement Email Subscription Fee

As quickly as they announced it, Sasktel have now changed their decision to charge customers for their email addresses.

The Minister of SaskTel, Don Morgan K.C., stepped in to ensure that SaskTel subscribers will continue to receive their sasktel.net email addresses without any additional cost.

This decision comes after SaskTel’s recent announcement that they were planning to implement a $1.95 monthly fee for the use of sasktel.net email addresses, starting April 21.

The company had intended to give users ample time to become aware of the charge or to switch to a free alternative before the charges were implemented, however, Minister Morgan K.C. took note of the concerns of the SaskTel subscribers and decided to intervene, ensuring that the approximately 88,000 residents of Saskatchewan will not be negatively impacted.
