Canucks Fire Head Coach Bruce Boudreau

The Vancouver Canucks have fired head coach Bruce Boudreau and replaced him with Rick Tocchet, the former coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Arizona Coyotes.

The decision was made by General Manager Patrik Allvin, who stated in a press conference that he felt a new voice was needed to lead the team.

The move follows a series of poor performances by the team, which has been plagued by defensive issues and a lack of consistency on the ice.

Assistant coach Trent Cull was also dismissed, and the team has brought in former NHL defensemen Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar to serve and defensive development coaches, respectively.

Tocchet stated that his priority will be to improve the team’s defense and penalty kill, which currently sits at a league-worst 65.9%.
