“Serving The Community’s Greatest Need”

“Serving The Community’s Greatest Need”

That is the motto of the Kin Club and its members. They are a diverse group of people who come together to help people in their communities in a time of need.

I sat down with President Lisa Kirtzinger and we talked about the combining of the Kinsmen and the Kinettes. The Kindersley Kin Club was renewed and chartered in 2019 with 24 members. They still have 24 members and are always on the look out for caring, compassionate volunteers.

The Kin Club raises funds through various activities including but not limited to; TeleMiracle telethon, duck derby and food booth during the Goose Festival, the selling of Christmas trees and running the bar at the annual rodeo. They are also involved with meals on wheels and blood donor clinics.

The TeleMiracle telethon is a 20 hour telethon that happens this year on February 25th and 26th at the Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. This is year 47 for the telethon and in years 1 through 46, has raised upwards of $153 million dollars! Wow! The national charity they support is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as the TeleMiracle is a provincial fundraiser with ALL funds staying in Saskatchewan. Locally, they help with the food bank, crisis centre and all three schools.

February 18th is Kin Kindness Day and you will see Kin members out in our community performing random acts of kindness—something everyone should think about every day!

Funds raised through their activities help individuals and groups within the community that show a specific need.

If you think the club could assist you, please reach out to kinclubkindersley@gmail.com. They would love to hear from you!
