Current Scam Involves RCMP and UNICEF
Saskatchewan RCMP have warned the public about a possible scam on behalf of the executive director of UNICEF and Brenda Lucki, the commissioner of the RCMP.
La Ronge RCMP received the report about the email. A letter, which is attached to the email, looks like official letterhead from the RCMP and UNICEF, states that the Executive Director of UNICEF and the Commissioner of the RCMP are sending a summons and taking legal action after a cyber investigation into things like cyber pornography, sexual trafficking, and cyber pedophilia. The letter also contains legal jargon alleging email exchanges with several minors. The person who receives the email is to send back a reply with justifications which will be reviewed.
Police confirm that this is NOT legitimate and if you receive this, delete it immediately without replying.
Remember to always check the legitimacy of the sender or sending address before opening or responding to email—the email this particular scam is sent from a Google address.
