What Has the KFD Been Up to Lately?
By Devin Brown
The Kindersley Fire Department dealt with 14 calls in the past 5 weeks. Six of those calls were to assist with a (MVC) Motor Vehicle Collision. The other 8 were a variety of things, including: property alarms ringing, pedestrian and vehicle collision, medical assistance, and to assist a person who was trapped in an elevator.
They worked with Westberry School on a fun contest where families would create their escape plan. Each family that chose to participate made a video with instructions for a safe escape in the event of a house fire.
After all the videos were submitted, the fire department drew for a lucky winner and they were treated to some prizes. The winner and their family got to ride in the fire truck, for starters. Then they got some Kindersley Fire Department swag, and finally they got to have some ice cream with a few members of the team.
Some of the members of the Kindersley fire brigade were training this past weekend. Fire departments from Eston, Eatonia and Macklin also sent members to Kindersley for training in ICS 200 – Incident Command System. Those who attended learned how to operate ICS efficiently during an incident or event. It was directed at personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position.
