Alleged Dating App Robber Still Behind Bars

Since his arrest in November 2022, the man charged with using a dating app to lure and rob a Saskatoon man at gunpoint has remained in custody without bail.

Kobe Favel, a twenty-four-year-old from Prince Albert, had his attendance waived in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday, with the matter adjourned until October 17.

“He continues to work on his release plan,” said defense counsel Marie-Therese Bayda in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Favel faces charges of armed robbery, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of MDMA.

According to the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS), Favel met the victim through a dating app and went to the victim’s home. During their encounter, a struggle ensued, and a gunshot was fired, resulting in minor injuries to the victim. Favel then allegedly fled the scene with the victim’s vehicle, bank card, phone, and the contents of his gun safe.

The victim promptly contacted SPS, and they located him in a parking lot in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West around 3:30 a.m. SPS utilized their Air Support Unit to track down the stolen vehicle, which they discovered attempting to conceal itself on Grey Place. Favel was subsequently arrested without incident.
