Over $200,000 Spent at Concession at Sold-Out Blades, Pats Game

The SaskTel Centre staff are still recovering from the sold-out game on Sunday between the Regina Pats and Saskatoon Blades.

Despite the Pats winning 4-2, many are basing the event as a success due to the fantastic atmosphere and the event going off without any major disruptions or complaints.

Scott Ford, the executive director at SaskTel Centre, expressed his pride in the hundreds of staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to cater to the 14,768 capacity crowd. Over 600 staff and volunteers worked the game, providing everything from security and entrances to video production and camera operators, as well as ensuring the concession stands were well-stocked. Ford says 2,200 boxes of popcorn, 2,500 soda drinks and roughly 1,500 hotdogs were sold, with fans spending roughly $15 per person on concessions, resulting in a total of $221,500. The economic spinoff from the event is expected to be huge, as people from all over Saskatchewan traveled to Saskatoon for the game, resulting in increased tourism and shopping.

On Friday, the SaskTel Centre will host a rematch between the Pats and Blades. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. puck drop.
